    What is the difference between Bail and Bale?

    Bail pertains to legal and police circles. Of course, it is also used in political circles.

    – A court grants ‘bail’ to a prisoner, which means the individual is freed from custody, but he has to report to police station and court whenever he is summoned..
    – In politics, it is used when a party colleague comes to a member’s rescue, specially in the House. The deputy minister was cornered by irate MPs, but the home minister bailed him out by giving a satisfactory explanation (or pacifying members).
    – Another bail belongs to cricket. The bails on wickets.

    ‘Bale’ refers to quantity of cotton, and some specific yarns. A large package of raw or finished material tightly bound with twine or wire and often wrapped: a bale of hay.
