Ubuntu 11.04 vs Ubuntu 11.10

Ubuntu 11.04 and Ubuntu 11.10 both are Linux Operating Systems based on Debian GNU/Linux. Ubuntu 11.10 Final version is not yet released but the beta version has been released and lot of its new features are being discussed on the web. Following are the differences between Ubuntu 11.04 and Ubuntu 11.10.

Difference between Ubuntu 11.04 and Ubuntu 11.10

  1. Ubuntu 11.04 is the current operating system released by Debian.
  2. Ubuntu 11.04 is also known as Natty Narwhal (named by Mark Shuttleworth) and was released on 28 April 2011.
  3. Ubuntu 11.04 uses Unity user interface instead of GNOME Shell as default
  4. The default music player is Banshee.
  5. Ubuntu 11.04 uses LibreOffice not OpenOffice.

Ubuntu 11.10

Difference between Ubuntu 11.04 and Ubuntu 11.10

  1. Ubuntu 11.10 is the upcoming operating system released by Debian. Ubuntu 11.10 Final version has been released and is available for Download. Click here to Download Ubuntu 11.10 Final version
  2. Ubuntu 11.10 is also known as Oneiric Ocelot (named by Mark Shuttleworth). It means dreamy. The stable release is has been released on 13 October 2011.
  3. Ubuntu 11.10 uses a 2D version of Unity and for higher version of hardware it will use Compiz-based 3D version. Ubuntu 11.10 will run as a shell for GNOME 3 on top of GNOME 3 libraries
  4. The default music player is Banshee.
  5. Ubuntu 11.10 uses LibreOffice not OpenOffice.
