Difference Between LCD TV and LED TV

LCD TV vs LED TV
A liquid crystal display (LCD) is a thin, flat electronic visual display that uses the light modulating properties of liquid crystals (LCs). LCs do not emit light directly. Light-Emitting Diode (LED) are diodes(electronic components that let electricity pass in only one direction) that emit visible light when electricity is applied, much like a light bulb. When many LEDs are side-by-side, they can create pictures. Below are Difference Between LCD TV and LED TV which will help you to know the pros and cons of LED and LCD TV and help you in choosing the right product.

LCD TV

Difference Between LCD TV and LED TV

  1. LCD televisions use fluorescent CFL lighting.
  2. Technology used in LCD sets are generally more energy efficient.
  3. LCD displays utilize two sheets of polarizing material with a liquid crystal solution between them.
  4. Electric current passed through the liquid causes the crystals to align so that light cannot pass through them.
  5. Each crystal works like a shutter, either allowing light to pass through or blocking the light.

LED TV

Difference Between LCD TV and LED TV

  1. LED TV use LED lights for back lighting.
  2. LED TV helps alleviate the problem of poor color fidelity that LCD’s suffer from.
  3. LED’s are good for displaying images because they are relatively small, and they do not burn out.
  4. LED’s requires more power than LCD’s
  5. LED technology is a subset of LCD, albeit an improvement thereof. Basically, an LED monitor is still LCD but with backlighting added.
