    Ox vs Bull

    Ox and Bull both are mammals. Both look similar but they do share some differences. Bull sounds like the ‘he’ of cow… then who is an ox? Check out the differences between Bull and Ox.



    1. Ox are larger than bull.
    2. Ox are used for plowing and other farming activities. Also, for pulling cart and other heavy load..
    3. ‘Ox’ term is used for castrated male of the species of cattle.
    4. Compared to horses, oxen are steadier and less excitable. So, they are used for heavier tasks such as breaking sod or ploughing in wet soil. Oxen are required to wear shoes
    5. Are trained to understand simple commands related to work



    1. Bulls are used in beef and dairy farming.
    2. Bull is used in many cultural activities across the globe- bull fighting, bull riding, bull-baiting.
    3. Bull is an intact (not castrated) adult male.
    4. Bull is very prominent in many cultures. Hindus worship Nandi(a bull) in Shiva temples. The mythic Bull of the Heavens plays a role in the ancient Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh, dating as far back as 2150 BC.
    5. The zodiac sign of Taurus is a bull.
