    Alligator vs Crocodile

    Alligator and Crocodile are Reptiles. Alligator and Crocodile both are often confused and creates lots of doubt in the minds as to which one is alligator or crocodile.     Alligator

    1. An alligator is a crocodilian in the genus Alligator of the family Alligatoridae. There are two extant alligator species: the American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) and the Chinese alligator (Alligator sinensis).
    2. Alligator have wider and shorter U-shaped head.
    3. Alligator upper jaw is wider than its lower jaw and the teeth in the lower jaw fit into small depressions found in the upper jaw.
    4. Alligator only prefers to stay in freshwater.
    5. Alligator color is darker than crocodile.
    6. Alligator can survive upto 70 years.
    7. American Alligator can weight upto 360 KG (800 pounds) and length as long as 13 feet.
    8. They are not too aggressive compared to crocodiles.
    9. Alligators are raised commercially for their meat and skin, which is used for bags and shoes.

    1. A crocodile is any species belonging to the family Crocodylidae (sometimes classified instead as the subfamily Crocodylinae).
    2. Crocodile have longer and thin V-shaped head.
    3. Crocodile lower and upper jaws are of same width and the teeth in the lower jaw fits into a constriction in the upper jaw.
    4. Crocodile color is lighter and also depends on the quality water.
    5. Crocodile can survie upto 100 years.
    6. Crocodiles can weigh upto 1200 KG (800 pounds) and length as long as 16 feet long.
    7. They are very aggressive compared to alligators.
    8. Crocodile leather can be made into goods such as wallets, briefcases, purses, handbags, belts, hats, and shoes. The meat is consumed in some contries, such as Australia, Ethiopia, Thailand, South Africa and Cuba.
